Computer Items:
We need towers, monitors and printers as well as Software
We are also looking for gently used recent laptops for bedridden troops.
Toiletry Items:
Chapstick; neosporin; aspirin; moisturizer; band-aids; toothpaste; toothbrush; shaving cream; name brand razors; feminine hygiene products; handy wipes; sinus medication; shampoo; conditioner; soap; hand sanitizers
Personal Items:
Pillows, blankets, small hand towels, tube socks cotton,Bandanas (washed and softened)
Entertainment Items:
books, sci fi, westerns, thriller; newspapers or Magazines subscriptions; cards; dice; dominos; chess; yo-yo's; checkers; word finds; puzzle books; videos or DVDs of sitcoms, game shows, sports events; pocket electronic games; balls; small hand held games; A & AA batteries.
Food Items:
NO UNPACKAGED FOOD PLEASE! hard candy like sweet tarts, spree, mints, lollipops; bubble gum; beef jerky; canned cheese; crackers; canned nuts; canned snack packs like pudding and fruit; popcorn; chips and dip; pretzels; cookies; trail mixes
Miscellaneous Items:
toothpicks, tissues, cups; cigarettes, disposable cameras; Ziploc baggies; stationary supplies, stamps, writing pads, pens, pencils; peel and seal envelopes, notes of well wishes; signed cards from friends; pictures; drawings
DO NOT SEND:
unpackaged food; fireworks; explosives; matches; lighters; alcohol, or any other unacceptable materials. If you would like your soldier to respond more readily, please include a stamped self addressed envelope in your package.
Monetary Donations
Checks and money orders to support the wounded troops, may be sent to Any American Legion Post or Veterans of Foreign Wars Post at the addresses on the Homepage. The Virginia Organizing Project (703 Concord Ave. Charlottesville, VA 22903) accepts donations on behalf of the Adopt a Soldier program. (all checks made to "Virginia Organizing Project". All checks to have memo notation of AdoptaSoldier.
